Peacebuilding Center in the Deep South (PCDS)

Background

Peacebuilding Center in the Deep South (PCDS) was formed after the Center for Peace Studies and Development (CPSD) was established in late 2004. This is a local coordination center. This is a local coordination center. There are personnel who are local people in the office. The center aims to streamline operations, especially in coordinating educational institutions, the government, the private sector, and civil society. Even in the era that has transformed into the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies, the CPDS is still essential to facilitate personnel working in the Deep South.

At present, the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies has the Social Engagement in the Deep South (2021-2024) by specifying the scope of work in three areas: 

1) Dialogue for Buddhist-Muslim relations and religion-state;

2) Dialogue between the roles of politicians/civil society in peacebuilding;

3) Promoting the role of marginalized groups in peacebuilding, including Buddhists, youth, women, outsiders, and stateless people.

Objective

1) To coordinate in the Deep South.

2) Facilitate IHRP’s staff.

3) To be a mechanism to disseminate the work of the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies.

4) Providing a facility for meeting and working space.

5) Manage knowledge of personnel in the Deep South.

The Structure of Peacebuilding Center in the Deep South (PCDS)

The Peacebuilding Center in the Deep South (PCDS) has two full-time personnel: research officers and general administrative officers. The PCDS is headed by a central office chief who works in conjunction with the deputy director for research and academic services.
