26 August 2024 – The Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies at Mahidol University, serving as the secretariat of the ASEAN University Network-Human Rights Education (AUN-HRE) and supported by the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights at the University of Oslo, has inaugurated the 8th Annual Regional Lecturer Workshop on Transformative Pedagogies in Teaching Human Rights.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti (Acting Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council, Mahidol University) delivered the welcome remarks virtually. The workshop, taking place from 26-29 August 2024 at the Ibis Bangkok Riverside hotel, brings together esteemed educators from across Southeast Asia. Among the key trainers are Dr. Vachararutai Boontinand, director of the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies, Mahidol University, Dr. Felicia Yeban from the Philippines Normal University, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Duanghathai Buranajaroenkij, lecturer of the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies, Mahidol University.
This year’s training focuses on equipping university lecturers with innovative and contextually relevant teaching techniques for human rights and peace education, aiming to enhance their ability to address current regional challenges through transformative pedagogies.
