On June 12, 2023, the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies (IHRP), together with the Danish Institute of Human Rights and Yangon Cosmopolitan University, launches the Project of Enhancing Access to Education on Human Rights, Democracy and Peace in Myanmar-Pyin-Nya-Man-daing Programme (PNMD).
The PNMD is a new initiative of collaboration between the Yangon Cosmopolitan University, the Danish Institute for Human Rights and the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies, Mahidol University. The Program aims to provide capacity building to academics and students in Myanmar through human rights education training, research mentorship and scholarship for Myanmar students to study in Mahidol University.
The launch includes panel discussion on “Enhancing Human Rights and Peace Education through International Partnership in Southeast Asia” and on “Human Rights and Peace Education and Academic Research: Prospects and Challenges” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication, Mahidol University and Dr. Vacharutai Boontinand, Director of the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies Director and co-chair of the PNMD Advisory Board gave the opening speech and welcomed the audiences by emphasizing the significance of international collaboration to promote human rights and peace in the region.
