On August 19, 2023, The Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies (IHRP), Mahidol University and the Southern Border Thai Buddhist Association jointly organized a dialogue forum for the revitalization of deserted Buddhist communities in the Deep South -phase 2. This dialogue project is led by Dr. Suphatmet Yunyasit, lHRP lecturer in the field of peace studies and team at CS Hotel, Pattani.
More than 45 representatives of the Buddhist associations/groups and networks in the deep south, some governmental agencies (for example, the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center-SBPAC and the Internal Security Operation Command 4-ISOC 4, Pattani Governor Office) and Muslim CSO participated in the forum in which practical approaches to revive the decline of Buddhist communities were discussed. The forum served well as a platform for future multi-partnership collaboration for the said issue and for the peaceful coexistence of communities in the deep south area.
