Held at the Prince Mahidol Conference Room, sponsored by Norwegian Center for Human Rights, University of Oslo, the event brought together distinguished speakers, including representatives from the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) and the United Nations, alongside academics and students. Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, MD, FRCP, President of Mahidol University, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in advancing human rights education across the ASEAN region. The meeting featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and the awards ceremony for the Business and Human Rights Short Video Contest, which highlighted youth advocacy and storytelling.

Prof. Amara Pongsapich (Thailand Representative, AICHR) emphasized the need for enforceable human rights obligations in ASEAN business practices, while H.E. Edmund Bon Tai Soon (Malaysia Representative, AICHR) offered practical insights into operationalizing due diligence frameworks. H.E. Yuyun Wahyuningrum (Indonesia Representative, AICHR) provided a critical analysis on accountability mechanisms and access to justice for human rights violations, showcasing regional strategies for bridging implementation gaps. Dr. Seree Nonthasut of the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights added a global dimension, advocating for inclusive and sustainable business practices.

The event concluded with the much-anticipated short video contest awards, celebrating young advocates across ASEAN. First prize was awarded to Prince Loyd Cabalida Besorio (Philippines), second prize to Adthie Chard A/L Boon (Malaysia), and third prize to Patchariya Mosikarat (Thailand). The Popular Vote Award was shared by Mark Louise Nofiez Borja and Rhea Balaysoche. The winning videos demonstrated the power of creative storytelling to raise awareness about human rights issues, underscoring the role of academic institutions as mediators for change and advocacy in the region.
