IHRP presented its project, “Interfaith Buddy for Sustainable Peacebuilding from the Grassroots”

From November 12 to 14, 2024, the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies at Mahidol University took part in the 8th South-East Asia Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Sustainable Development Goals, hosted by UNESCAP at its headquarters on Ratchadamnoen Avenue, Bangkok. The Institute presented its project, “Interfaith Buddy for Sustainable Peacebuilding from the Grassroots,” led by Assistant Professor Dr. Patthira Nakurairat, with support from Ms. Khemika Klinkasorn and Ms. Pimonluk Suvongsindh. The initiative aims to foster sustainable peace in grassroots communities through interfaith collaboration.
.
Associate Professor Dr. Sompop Prathanturarug, Vice President for Quality Development and Social Engagement at Mahidol University, tasked the Institute with representing its ongoing work at the forum. The exhibition attracted significant interest from attendees eager to discuss and learn more about the project, which integrates health and peacebuilding in regions affected by violence. This approach aligns with key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 3 on health and well-being for all ages, Goal 16 promoting peaceful and inclusive societies, and Goal 17 aimed at strengthening global partnerships for sustainable progress.
.
The event provided a valuable platform to connect local community needs with high-level policymakers, highlighting tangible research outcomes and bringing real-world solutions from conflict areas to an international audience.
