The Dialogue process to listen to the facts in the case of complaints about the road construction project connecting Nakhon-In road between Salaya and Nakhon Pathom.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) invited personnel from the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gothom Arya, Asst. Prof. Dr. Padtheera Narkurairattana, and Lecturer Dr. Pholtham. Sianmekan Chankham. They were invited to be part of the Dialogue process to listen to the facts in the case of complaints about the road construction project connecting Nakhon-In road between Salaya and Nakhon Pathom. The Dialogue was held on November 3, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Workshop meeting room on the waterfront, Siri Rukkhachat, Mahidol University. There were 60 participants, consisting of the public sector, the private sector, and the affected public sector. As a result of the discussion, it was concluded that the majority of participants supported improving existing routes, both roads and railways. The people of Khlong Yong community do not agree with the construction of a road through the Khlong Yong community title deed. But if it is necessary to build a road, we want it to be changed to another route that has less impact on the community’s way of life. Meanwhile, the Department of Rural Roads and the consulting company are willing to listen to useful opinions from the community in order to jointly search for appropriate options.
