Courses & Programs

The guiding teaching philosophy of IHRP is one of empowerment for the purpose of inspiring changemakers in the fields of human rights and peace.  In order to achieve these learning outcomes, lecturers strive to be clear in their communication, to be adaptable to evolving student needs and to be available to support students at different points in their studies.  Learning activities and different media such as videos and power points are designed to optimize the experience for students. Teachers use lecturers as well as seminar-style discussion formats that challenge students to reflect critically and to synthesize what they have read for a given week’s assignments.  Lecturers, students and IHRP staff bring different backgrounds, knowledge and perspectives to the learning environment and IHRP’s educational philosophy thrives on this diversity.
